Who is cooler-Jango or Boba Fett?

ON-SCREEN ACHIEVEMENTS. Jango wins this one. Even if you take into account his quick and nasty death at Mace Windu's hands, Jango kicked a$$ in the movies. Not that Boba was a complete loser. He was smart enough to not fall for Han's trick in Ep5, had enough guts to talk back to Vader (kinda), and looked a lot more menacing than his dad ever did. But all of this pales in comparison to the b*tt-kicking that Jango gave Obi-Wan. And, yeah, then there's the complete embarrassment of falling into the Sarlaac screaming like a little girl.

OFF-SCREEN ACHIEVEMENTS: Boba. Both have their share of awesome deeds to their names, but Boba surpasses his father. It's understandable, too, as he started out bounty hunting much earlier (at the age of 11 or so?) and lived much longer than his dad. He killed Jedi during the purge, brought in the highest bounties there were, friggin' SURVIVED as a little kid on his own in the galaxy, doing stuff that would get most adults killed.

Though one could argue that we have Jango to thank for that. After all, that was the main point of raising a clone of himself.

BACKGROUND: Boba Fett again. "Clone raised from birth for a life of fighting and bounty hunting" beats "farmer's son orphaned and raised by mandalorians" anytime. Why? Replace "mandalorian" with a military or criminal group of your choosing, and the latter is a dime a dozen in the literary world. Plus, Boba's background is a lot more creepier (which adds to the coolness factor, imo). I can just imagine little four-year-old Boba getting a real blaster rifle for his birthday instead of a bantha plushie. (By the way, I disregard the kids' series about Boba's childhood where it contradicts the novelization of Ep2, especially what it says about Boba's personality and training. He wasn't an almost normal little boy, but an ice-cold accomplice of his dad who looked forward to watching Anakin & Co's execution like watching a football game)

PERSONALITY: That's hard to say. I'll have to call it a draw here. Both Boba and Jango were traumatized as little children: Boba watched his dad's head get cut off by a jedi and Jango saw (or heard?) his whole family slaughtered by renegade Mandalorians.

Both showed exceptional courage and strength right afterwards. Boba by surviving (and thriving!) all on his own as a frickin' 10-year-old in a galaxy out to get him, and Jango by helping the good-guy Mandalorians in their battle against the bad-guy Mandalorians by sneaking under tanks and planting bombs and actually shooting one of the guys who killed his family.

Jango was a little more "human" in that he showed a wider range of emotions, he showed affection towards his son, towards Zam (whom he later killed... funny how the galaxy works), expressed doubt and fear and worry (very subtly, but he did). Boba is probably a more tragic character, but he's also harder to relate to because he's so cold, almost inhuman.

I think Jango felt more three-dimensional personalitywise, but also more ordinary (not too ordinary, but just a little bit). Boba is a lot more fascinating, but at times, depending on the author, feels like a walking cliche.
