If teens actually were mature enough and had the intelligence to learn the health risks of smoking and also believe that they are not invincible and that cancer will never happen to them, then they would never smoke that first cigarette and get hooked on nicotine.
Kids have zero foresight and often do not realize the consequences of their actions. Because if they did, they would NEVER smoke, right?
I think peer pressure and trying to be cool are the main causes why kids smoke cigs. The funny thing is that if you look at a child smoking, they look absolutely ridiculous, like a little kid wearing their father's suit jacket.
